Your First Love

I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
Revelation 2:2‭-‬5 NIV

Dear believer,

As you begin your walk with the Lord and journey through life, it takes intentionality and dogged commitment to still remain in that child-like posture before the Father yet doing the things you used to do and your heart panting after Him even much more.

We have read of and seen how that many who started well with the Lord and even God doing mighty things through them yet grow weary and become victims of a burnout and sometimes even yet still in the work of ministry and have fallen out of love/place with the Father.

God in His mercies as much as He loves the things we do for Him is more interested in us than He is in the things we do for Him i.e if God were to choose between you and the work you do for Him, He would choose you over and over again.

We see in our anchor text how that the people had persevered and endured much hardship in the name of the Lord but yet it was recorded that they had forgotten their first love; this simply tells us that it is yet very possible for a believer to still be actively doing God's work but yet forget the very first love.

Years back when you recently gave your life to Christ, you could sit on the floor for hours just worshipping and loving up on Jesus, not being ashamed of Him but now you have become so busy and engrossed in the opinions of men that you don't do those things that once made Father's heart happy anymore.

It no longer even matters to you if Father is happy or not as long as you show up in every service doing what you need to do.

The Lord is calling us to place of intimacy/personal fellowship/communion as this is the engine room that fuels every other thing we do for Him.

The priority has yet not changed and so it still remains the walk with the Lord before the work for the Lord!

Receive the grace to return to your first love and may you not grow weary!

The peace and grace of our dear Lord be multiplied unto you!
