Laying aside every weight!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.
Hebrews 12:1‭-‬3 NLT

Truth be told, there are so many distractions seeking to pull the believer away from the path of seeking/serving/doing the will of the Lord and this is all in the enemy's agenda to recruit "believers" to work against the Kingdom of our dear Lord and for his (the enemy's) kingdom.

Second truth is that there is only one among two things everyone on this Earth is doing; it's either you are building the Lord's Kingdom or you are building the enemy's Kingdom so this is the point where you sit, check and ask yourself whose kingdom you have truly been building with/by your actions, reactions and dispositions.

The Apostle Paul clearly tells us in our anchor scripture to lay aside every weight that slowly besets us/keeps us from faithfully following/seeking and serving the Lord Jesus' purpose.

The word "weight" in that scripture is from the Greek word "ogkos" and ogkos describes a burden or something so heavy and cumbersome that it impedes a runner from running his race as he should.

The Apostle Paul was simply referring to incorrect attitudes and actions that hinder the believer from going forward with the Lord and for each believer, this weight may differ, for some, it could be the attitude of giving up/doubt/fear or what may, for others it could be backbiting/gossiping, offences/strife/malice keeping, envy, for some it could be the inability to even commit to a purpose, for some it could be laziness or what may, for some it could be over-talking, inability to prioritize God above all else, for some it could even be health or financial challenges causing you to be distracted and unable to follow as consistently and well as you ought to and whatever incorrect attitudes or actions/reactions and dispositions we can think of right now.

So right now, sit and think "what is that one attitude, action, reaction and disposition that has been keeping/restricting me from going all out for the Lord in fulfilling or even discovering my purpose and running with it?"

That right there is a weight that only seeks to take you away from the Father's will and so needs to be laid aside.

The Apostle Paul further went to talk about the sin also that so easily makes us unfit for the Master's use.

Truth is, most times when we read Matthew 6:33, we tend to only focus on the "seek ye first the Kingdom of God..." part and we pay little or no attention to the "...and it's righteousness" part; fact remains, if you are serving God and still living in sin, you are not serving correctly and so you are not working for the good of the Kingdom of God but for the good of the Kingdom of darkness as truth be told, the devil doesn't have an issue with the believer being so filled with activities in church as long as he is not doing it with a right heart/disposition, as long as he is doing it while living deeply in sin, the devil is okay with it as what he is really after is your soul and the souls of as many around you and not your activities in church.

The word "serve" as seen severally in scriptures (38 times to be precised) is diakonia which implies to be a servant, attendant, domestic, to serve, wait upon, to minister to one, render ministering offices to; this definition simply tells us that everything we do in God's work/Kingdom/house, whatever responsibility we have taken up is first unto the Lord but scriptures clearly tell us that God's greatest desire is for us to be Holy just as He is Holy, His greatest desire is for us to worship Him in Spirit and in truth, His greatest desire is that we offer our lives and bodies permanently/consistently/daily to Him as worship/a living sacrifice, His greatest desire is that we keep His temple (our bodies) holy for His indwelling, His greatest desire is that we become just like Him in this world and shine forth His light to all men that they may see our good works and glorify Him, His greatest desire is that we don't just seek first His Kingdom but also His righteousness so obviously, beyond the activities, God wants a life as unlike man, God is more interested in the vessel than in the activity.

He desires for us not just to offer sacrifices unto Him but to offer acceptable sacrifices unto Him (Malachi 3:3) and sacrifices can only be acceptable if the vessel is acceptable/clean/Holy/purified/fit for the Masters use and the sacrifice is done according to order/instruction and not breaking the ranks.

Dear believer, it is time to lay aside every weight/distractions/actions/reactions/dispositions and sin that keeps you from truly following/doing the will of the Father, it is time to die daily to the flesh and live a life of honor and Glory unto our dear Lord, it is time to press toward the mark of the high calling looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of your faith who for the Glory set before Him disregarded the shame, endured the cross and endured much hostility from sinful people while yet being unstained with ill weights and sin (being guiltless/blameless); Jesus therefore fulfilled purpose not just because He endured the cross but because His attitude towards the cross and the people/reactions/actions and dispositions were in synchrony with God before He got to and while He was on the cross.

What is that weight you urgently need to lay aside? It could even be Spiritual tiredness/weariness/laziness/passivism.

What is that sin you urgently need to come out of? Jesus is saying to someone here today "come out from among them and be ye separate!"

There's is grace to help available for you right on the cross!

Someone here, you really need to give your life to Jesus Christ today, someone here, you might need to rededicate your life to Jesus while another person here might need to pray prayers of restoration as the enemy has really stolen from you through this loophole.

Prayers:

"Lord Jesus, I come to you today knowing that I am a sinner and that only You can forgive me my sins, please come into my life, wash me off my sins and make me whole again.
I admit that you came and died for my sins and on the third day you rose again and so I accept you today as my Lord and personal savior".

Or maybe you need to pray prayers of rededication or restoration?

Or you need to ask the Lord for help to lay aside every weight/burden?

For someone whose health greatly impedes them from following/seeking/serving Jesus the way they should, I decree and I declare that your health is restored as the Lord says He is restoring health unto you (Jeremiah 30:17) for by His stripes you've been healed and made whole (Isaiah 53:5).
Every plant in your body/system that the Lord has not planted is rooted up right now in the name of Jesus the Christ (Matthew 15:13).
You are receiving your healing right now and it is perfected as that which the Lord is permanent!

For someone reading this, the Lord is saying "forget about the former things for I am doing a new thing and it springs forth, be actively present!" (Isaiah 49:13)

Brethren, in this season, distraction has a price tag that you can not afford to pay so please stay focussed on Jesus!

There's grace available to help so just go ahead and talk to Him right now.

The peace and grace of our dear Lord be multiplied unto you!
