Building to last!
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
Matthew 7:24-27 NLT
I have seen, heard of and read of a lot of believers who once were on fire for the Lord but right now are nowhere to be found in God's agenda/His presence.
I have also seen, heard of and read of a much greater number of believers who once loved the Lord dearly who were powerful weapons in the Lord's hands who now still yet doing "ministry" but whose lives do not speak/testify of the person of Jesus.
Dear believer, what foundation are you building on?
What structures have you set in place for longevity in God?
A lot of people "love the Lord", do firefull things in the Lord's house/burn for God but tend to burn out/give up in just a matter of time.
A lot of people do firefull things in the Lord's house but really their lives do not speak of/give testament to the person of Jesus.
And yet, there are the ones who do love the Lord, do firefull things in the Lord's house (not even necessarily seen by men), set structures for longevity and God helping them make a good headway at lasting long in Jesus till the very end and do last!
We have read of many of them, the fathers of faith that the Father has blessed us with, we also do take a cue from the life of our dear Lord Jesus (as He is our very example) and several of the Apostles and prophets of old/the Bible to see that staying with the Father till the very end is indeed very possible and there is grace and wisdom available for it.
However, the place of God's mercy and intentionality can never be over emphasized.
Jesus clearly tells us in our anchor text a very solid key to lasting long with Him; listening to His teachings (studying the Bible, spending time to commune and hear from Him both personally and also with the brethren;...yes! No man lasts being in isolation..., accountability to those who He has placed over you) and doing them/following His every word.
Like I always tell people, it is really not the word you hear that changes you but the word you do/put into practical action by the help of the Holy spirit i.e it is not just enough to study the Bible daily, pray 10 hours daily, listen to the sermon in church and even audio messages but how intentional are you about truly becoming?
As many of us do already know, becoming is in action as is an action word than in hearing/knowing as it is the knowledge you put into use that translates to results, transformation and destiny fulfilment.
Two key things amongst many others you must learn in your journey with the Lord are:
1. His mercies are new every morning so embrace it daily as it is only by His mercy that we truly can become and attain.
2. You must intentionally build strength, capacity, stamina for evil days and this strength can only be built with consistency in the presence of the Father (word study, prayer/communion/intimacy) and with great intentionality.
Truly, there are times in this journey where your strength will fail you and that is where embracing His mercy comes in and He by His mercy supplies you with much more strength needed for continuity.
Now, it doesn't matter if you currently have given up/burnt out, there is mercy and Grace available for you and all you need to do is to return to the Father and let Him hold you by the hand and take it up from there.
Though the righteous falls, he rises up over and over again and brethren I tell you, there is hope for a tree though it be cut down but at the scent of water it will sprout and bud again.
It is never too late for you to return to your Father, He is waiting to pick you up with arms stretched wide open.
And for the believer who is "standing on solid ground", receive grace to stand even much more firmly but do take heed lest you fall (1Corinthians 10:12)!
Three key questions to ask yourself amongst many others:
1. What am I really interested in? Doing? Or becoming?
2. With the way I am building now, 90 years from now, will I still be with Jesus? Loving Him even much more?
3. This thing I am building now, can it stand the test of time? Can it withstand storms and adversity?
Meditate and answer those questions in your heart sincerely, the Holy Spirit is present to help you!
Two key prayers amongst many others to pray consistently in your journey:
1. Lord, I acknowledge and embrace your mercy for destiny fulfilment.
2. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit rest and abide with me now and forevermore. Amen!
The peace and grace of our dear Lord be multiplied unto you!
