PAYING THE PRICE FOR DESTINY FULFILMENT (PART 1)
Anchor Text
Romans 8:28-30 NLT
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
The term "destiny" implies the outcome/state of a person's life in the future and to fulfill destiny implies to achieve a predetermined outcome for your life.
This tells us that we can not talk about destiny fulfilment without first coming to an in-depth understanding of God's intentions, plans and purposes for our lives on a long term i.e the very reason why we were created.
It is yet very important for us to note that the outcome/turnout of our lives will be the results from predetermined or inevitable course of events as well as the decisions and choices we make.
Our anchor text clearly tells us that God who created us already predetermined the outcome/turnout of our lives before creation i.e God is not just starting to think about your life and it's outcome now!
He foreknew you, He predestined you and foreordained you for a purpose!
This clearly tells us that God knew the very end of our lives even before He created us and still does, take for instance, a Potter who sets out to create a pot already has a picture of how exactly he wants the pot to look, it's color, it's strength and what exactly he wants that pot to achieve/be used for and Romans 9:21 clearly likens God to this Potter.
So the Potter having a picture of what he wants to form/create, what he wants it to look like, it's strength and it's purpose, picks up his instruments and his clay then begins to create.
However, it is also very important for us to note that the clay can do nothing of itself but can only yield to the Potter's design.
Now, this was God's intention when He created man and still remains His intention till date, that man yields to His intended design!
It is very important for us to note that just as fish can not survive outside of water, man can not survive outside of God so if man will truly fulfill purpose, he must find himself in and remain in God.
God's intended design
Now, you my ask, so what is God's intended design for my life?!
It is very important for us to note that the appex of God's intended purpose for our lives is that we become like His son, Jesus the living word of God (John 1:1)!
In creation, God placed in us everything we would ever need to thrive; He created a garden alongside everything in it, all that was good for food and all that needed to be tended then He went further to make man in His very own image and likeness which implied that man carried same abilities as He did (His very own D.N.A), placed man in this garden to tend it and gave him dominion over all things.
Now, this garden was called Eden which when studied indepthly in Greek and Hebrew translations implies paradise/Heaven so according to God's plan, man was to function in and from His very presence (the paradise of delight).
Now, God did not just place man in this garden but also left man with his word/instruction which we see how that when man disobeyed this instruction, man was cut off from his original design as man was created to dwell in His presence so man no longer had access to this presence and then we see the need for the coming of Jesus.
There are four key revelations in line with our study (among many others) we draw out of this scripture in Genesis.
1. Man was created in the image and likeness of God.
2. Man was created to dwell in God's presence.
3. Man was created to live by the word/instructions of God.
4. God had a purpose for man before He created man i.e God did not create you just for the fun of it and neither did He create you and start thinking of where to place you or what you will do!
Brethren, God has a plan and purpose for your life, He has predestined and foreordained you!
Have you found yourself in His plan and purpose yet????
You see, when you begin to live out of/opposite these four key revelations and understanding, you are no longer on your journey to destiny fulfilment!
In the latter parts of this article, we would be looking at who you are in God's design, how to find your uniqueness and the demands on your destiny's fulfilment.
Stay strengthened and on fire for the Lord as we journey!
