The refining fire

But who will be able to stand up to that coming? Who can survive his appearance? He’ll be like white-hot fire from the smelter’s furnace. He’ll be like the strongest lye soap at the laundry. He’ll take his place as a refiner of silver, as a cleanser of dirty clothes. He’ll scrub the Levite priests clean, refine them like gold and silver, until they’re fit for God, fit to present offerings of righteousness. Then, and only then, will Judah and Jerusalem be fit and pleasing to God, as they used to be in the years long ago. * * *
Malachi 3:2‭-‬4 MSG

This scripture clearly refers to God as the refining fire and fire is a tool used in purifying silver, gold and other precious jewels in order for the dross/dirt on them to come up and be completely removed.

This scripture also further tells us the reason the Lord will sit as a refiner of silver is for the purification of the Levites to the end that we may be able to offer offerings in righteousness/acceptable sacrifices unto the Lord which implies that the Lord only desires and honors sacrifices offered to Him in righteousness.

The Lord has called us kings and priests but brethren there is a need for those who will truly stand to function in this capacity to be purified and fire is one of the tools the Lord just like the Goldsmith uses to purify His priests as the fire burns off the dross/dirt.

A refiner’s fire melts down a metal, such as gold or silver for purification purposes and once a metal is in its melted down state, the dross in the metal rises to the top and is then removed from the metal before it cools.

God spoke these words through His prophet Malachi to describe how He purifies our hearts; just as a refiner’s fire, God will draw out our dross (our broken and sinful ways) so that we will stand pure and righteous before him as our dear Lord is Holy and anything that must stand/survive before Him must be holy.

It is also very important for us to note that a refiner’s fire does not destroy the metal, rather it allows the junk within to come up so that it can be removed, a refiner’s fire also does not consume but it makes the metal better and more valuable.

God will purify us in similar ways; He does not consume us, rather, being in a relationship with Him draws us to righteousness and away from sinfulness as He uses our suffering, our sinfulness, and our shortcomings to refine us just as a refiner’s fire so that the dross within our hearts will rise to the surface and can then be removed.

The Apostle Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 2:20-21 how that in a house there are different kinds of vessels but there is a criteria to becoming a vessel unto honor fit for the Master's and he further mentioned  the demands for purification required in order to be a vessel unto honor fit for the Master's purposes, this further explains to us that with our dear Lord, purification/cleansing is a very important requirement if we will be fit for His use/offer acceptable sacrifices unto Him.

Dearly beloved, all the Lord requires of you is total surrender and a heart ready and willing to journey with Him through it all as He Himself prunes and makes you into His own desired vessel (a vessel unto honor).

Don't jump out of the fire!
It is the fire that makes men!

Receive the grace to surrender and stay through your pruning and purification process!

The peace and grace of our dear Lord be multiplied unto you!
