While these young Nigerians were sitting for their Biology at Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Askira/Uba LGA, terror walked in. Gunmen opened fire, killed a teacher, and marched an unspecified number of students into the bush. This happens barely six weeks after 42 students and teachers were snatched from another school in the same local government area. According to Amnesty International, at least 1,100 people were abducted across the country in just the first four months of 2026 alone. Kidnapping is no longer an anomaly in Nigeria as it now seems to be a thriving, heavily funded parallel economy.
